What Is This Tool?
The WhatsApp Chat Generator is a browser-based mockup tool that recreates the WhatsApp interface — the green message bubbles, blue double-checkmark read receipts, contact header with avatar and status, and the phone status bar — so you can type your own conversation and export it as a shareable image.
For entertainment and design use only: this tool is built for jokes, memes, skits, presentation slides, UI/UX prototypes and social media content. It must never be used to fabricate fraudulent evidence, harass or defame someone, or impersonate a real person's actual messages — doing so can be illegal (fraud, defamation or harassment, depending on your jurisdiction) and is strictly against the intended use of this tool.
Nothing you type ever leaves your device — the whole conversation is rendered with the HTML Canvas API directly in your browser, and the PNG is generated and downloaded locally. There is no server upload, no account and no tracking of your message content.
Why Use It?
- Create funny fake conversations for memes and social posts.
- Mock up chat-based UI concepts for an app or presentation.
- Illustrate a script, skit or story with a realistic chat screenshot.
- Prototype WhatsApp-style notification or messaging designs.
- 100% local rendering — your conversation text never touches a server.
How to Use
- Set the contact name, status text (e.g. "online") and avatar color.
- Add message rows: type the text, pick a side (them/me) and a timestamp.
- For your own messages, choose the read-receipt status — sent, delivered or read.
- Adjust the status bar (time, battery, signal) to taste.
- Watch the phone-shaped preview update live, then click "Download PNG" to save the image.

A 375×812 PNG image showing a WhatsApp-style screen: green header with "Alex" and "online", a white/gray bubble on the left with the first message, and a green bubble on the right with the reply plus a small blue double-checkmark and timestamp. The image is generated instantly in the live preview canvas and downloads with a single click — no waiting, no upload.
What you can customize

- Unlimited message rows, each with its own text, side (them/me) and timestamp.
- Read-receipt status per message you send: sent, delivered or read.

Responsible use
This generator exists to make it easy to create clearly fictional chat images for humor, storytelling and design work. It is not a tool for fabricating evidence, staging harassment, or misleading anyone into thinking a fake conversation is real. If you plan to share an image made with this tool, consider adding context (like "fake" or "mockup") so viewers understand it is not an actual conversation, especially when the subject could be mistaken for a real person or real events.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it legal or ethical to use this tool?
The tool itself is legal to use for entertainment, mockups, presentations and design work. What is not legal or ethical is using the generated image to deceive someone — for example presenting it as a real conversation to commit fraud, to harass or defame a person, or to impersonate someone's actual messages. Depending on where you live, that kind of misuse can constitute fraud, defamation or harassment. Please only use this for clearly fictional or illustrative purposes.
Does the tool upload my messages anywhere?
No. Every message, name and setting you enter stays in your browser's memory and is drawn directly onto a canvas element using JavaScript. The PNG file is generated and downloaded on your device — nothing is ever sent to any server.
Can I control the read-receipt checkmarks (sent/delivered/read)?
Yes. Each message you send as "me" has its own status toggle: a single gray checkmark for sent, a double gray checkmark for delivered, and a double blue checkmark for read — matching WhatsApp's real visual style.
Can I upload a real photo as the avatar?
Yes — use the "Upload photo" option to set your own image as the contact avatar, or leave it unset and a colored circle with the contact's initials is generated automatically. The photo stays in your browser and is only ever drawn onto the canvas, never uploaded to a server.
What image size does it export?
The preview and exported PNG use a phone-screen aspect ratio (375×812 by default), which looks natural when shared on social media or embedded in a presentation.
Can I add more than two people to the conversation?
Message rows only support two sides — "them" and "me" — matching a real one-on-one WhatsApp chat. It's not built for group chats with multiple distinct senders.
Can I customize the phone status bar (time, battery, signal)?
Yes. The time, battery percentage and signal strength shown at the top of the phone-shaped preview are all editable, so the screenshot can match any time of day or device state you want.
How many messages can I add?
There's no fixed limit — click "+ Add message" to add as many rows as you need, each with its own text, side and timestamp. Very long conversations will just make the exported image taller.
Do I need a WhatsApp account to use this?
No. This tool doesn't connect to WhatsApp in any way — it's an independent visual mockup that recreates WhatsApp's look. No login, no phone number, no API key required.
Can I set the contact's status text, like "online" or "last seen today"?
Yes, the status line under the contact name is a free-text field, so you can set it to "online", "typing…", "last seen today at 9:41" or anything else.
Does this work on mobile browsers?
Yes — the tool is fully usable on a phone browser, though editing many message rows is easier on a larger screen. The download button works the same way on both.
